Am I able to work while I am in the Access program? 

The Access Program includes a very comprehensive and busy schedule. Due to the intensity of the schedule that includes components such as classes, weekly seminars, advising, peer mentoring, academic support, etc., students are discouraged from working while participating in the program when possible. However, if a student must work to support their participation in the program it is possible, they could work after 6:00 PM Monday-Thursday, after 5:00 PM on Friday, and on the weekends.

Students will receive their complete Access Program schedule when they attend Orientation.

Do I have to attend the orientation? 

Yes, all Access students must attend the Access orientation. During the dates of your Orientation, you will receive advising, and register for classes. What does a typical day look like in the Access Program? 

Most weekdays, Monday-Thursday, involve classes related activities, and events beginning as early as 8:00 AM and ending as late as 6:00 PM. Students may also have Access components between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Fridays. There are no weekend events scheduled. Students will receive their complete Access Program schedule when they attend Orientation.

When will I know my Summer B class schedule? 

Students will be pre-registered for their Summer B classes in order to secure their seat in the class. Students will receive their Access Program schedule, which includes their summer B classes when they attend the Access Orientation.

*Please note that students cannot select their summer classes; courses are chosen by the advising team based on the student’s test scores, dual enrollment, transfer credits, and intended major. At Orientation, students will be able to register for their fall semester with the guidance of an academic advisor.

Peer Advocates

Each Access student will be matched with a Peer Advocate. Peer Advocates will provide guidance and ongoing feedback as they meet with students to discuss their college goals, academic progress, campus resources, financial literacy, and their overall transition to the university.

All students will take two summer courses that will count toward general education and elective requirements within their UCF degree programs. *Please note that students cannot select their summer classes; These courses are chosen by the advising team based on the student’s test scores, dual enrollment, transfer credits, and intended major.

Access students will be pre-registered for their two Summer B classes prior to their orientation. Students will receive their class schedule via e-mail to their knight’s e-mail. All students will be enrolled in SLS 1501 (Strategies for Success in College) and one general education course. Examples of General Education courses that may be offered include:

Learning Support 

Access Program students for the Summer B term will have a learning support component tied directly to their general education course requirement.
